It would be nice to have them be used as portable TVs and radios from
local OTA stations without using the Internet.

Hi Ant,
Some local (Boston) stations distribute their own App - for a cell phone
to receive OTA it would need an antenna, yes?

to receive OTA it would need an antenna, yes?
Well, cellular works OTA too.

Many smartphones can receive radio, but that ability is often
disabled:

You know as much as I. I assume someone could find a way to enable the
radio, but most of us won't know how. The folks on this forum site are
