Hi Group,
i have got a smartphone with Windows mobile smartphones and wlan.
I love to use Media player to stream radio at home over wlan.
Whenever however the wlan is not available, the radio streams further
automatically over edge and drains my bank account...

Have you got an idea how to restrict Media player to use wlan only?

Thank you for any advice.

Hi there.. I use wlan to listen to radio on my HTC Touch pro. I always
select 'airplane' mode so it doesn't switch to edge or gprs.. so far it does
the trick but for me the batter runs dry pretty fast and having it on
airplane mode is not for everyone.. Obviously you cannot receive or make
calls.

Have you tried using third party software?

on my HTC Excalibur (s620) i can switch off the phone as well, but i
would like to get incoming calls...

Regarding the battery, it is better to run it on mains with the HTC
adaptor (USB, Audio jack, Headset output) it sounds quite good on my Hifi
equipment.

Which 3rd party SW do you have in mind?

At a worst case, i would buy another S620 without SIM, just to listen to
the radio. It's much cheaper on ebay than a WLAN radio.

I don't know if there's a way to stop WMP specifically, but Modaco has a
utility to easily suspend and reenable mobile data (designed primarily for
traveling abroad, but would work well for your needs):
http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility-nodata/

This would be easier than working your way through umpteen menus to shut of
the mobile data network connection each time.

That is already a good improvement, previously i had to cut the phone
line completely, now it cuts GPRS only and I still can receive calls.

If it could cut the GPRS access from only Media Player i'd be in heaven!
