(too old to reply)

I recently started using an audiovox smt5600. I know this phone is a few
years old but I used to work for Cingular (AT&T) and had this phone brand new
in the box from a contest I won...the smartphone I was using was dropped
(that person shall remain nameless.....TONY!) and therefore I must resort to
using this one since I don't want to spend a few hundred on a phone now...

Here is the question...
Can I update the software on the phone, and if so, HOW? How can I get
Facebook, GPS, and other neat applications on it?

Facebook requires WM 6.0 and up, IIRC, so you'll be stuck with the
m.facebook.com website on the WM2003-based SMT5600, I'm afraid.

For GPS, you can use Windows Live Search (go to wls.live.com on the 5600's
browser to download a compatible version), but you'll need a bluetooth GPS-
the 5600 has no native GPS capability, AFAIK.

For other apps you can haunt the "usual suspects" like Handango, Pocket
Gear, smartphonefreeware.mobi, etc.
